Man, 48, arrested for assaulting woman in Waipahu

Prosecutors charged a 48-year-old man today with second-degree assault for assaulting a 48-year-old woman in Waipahu.

Police said the assault occurred on Sept. 11, but Earl Onekea was arrested today.

Police said Onekea allegedly assaulted the woman with a dangerous instrument, and caused substantial bodily injury.

She was taken to the hospital, and while being treated, police were called.

Onekea was later found and arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault.

His bail was set at $11,000.
