Earthquake strikes off Tonga, no tsunami threat to Hawaii
A strong earthquake struck off Tonga Friday night but was not strong enough to pose a tsunami threat to Hawaii.
The magnitude 6.8 earthquake struck at about 11 p.m. about 56 miles northeast of Hihifo and about 142 miles southwest of Apia, Samoa at a depth of about 6 miles.
There have been no reports of injuries or damages.
