Kapaa man charged with stabbing

Kauai police arrested early today a 28-year-old Kapaa man who is accused of stabbing a 39-year-old Kapaa man during an argument.

Police responded to a call at 10:15 p.m. Tuesday of an assault on Kuhio Highway near Kauwila Street. They arrived to find the older man had been stabbed in the stomach.

He was taken to Wilcox Hospital for a severe laceration that was determined to be non-life-threatening, police said in a news release.

Police arrested Patrick Janicke at the scene on suspicion of second-degree assault. They charged him and set his bail at $5,000.
