Afternoon traffic contraflow to the Hawaii Convention Center is being adjusted due to the ongoing repairs to a damaged water main on Ala Moana Boulevard near the Ala Moana Shopping Center bus stop.

One mauka-bound lane on Kalakaua Avenue will permit motorists to turn left onto Kapiolani Boulevard.

Two westbound lanes on Ala Moana Boulevard were already closed between Atkinson Drive and Piikoi Street.

Board of Water Supply crews are expected to continue repairs through Friday.

Motorists are advised to expect delays and avoid the area if possible.

An additional lane has been closed as Board of Water Supply crews continue repairs to a ruptured water main near Ala Moana Center.

Two westbound lanes of Ala Moana Boulevard are closed today between Atkinson Drive and Piikoi Street. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes and plan ahead for their morning commute.

The break to a 12-inch water main — originally installed in 1934 — was reported at about 6 p.m. Wednesday on Ala Moana Boulevard near the shopping center.

Area residents and businesses were not affected.

Repairs are expected to continue throughout the day.
