Man who died after swimming off North Shore identified
A visitor has died after he was found unresponsive in waters at Three Tables Beach on the North Shore.
The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office has identified him as Lamar Chapman Jr., 56, of Los Angeles. The cause of death is pending.
Sometime before 2:45 p.m. Thursday, Emergency Medical Services said a man later identified as Chapman was swimming near Waimea when he got into trouble and became unresponsive.
He was brought to shore where ocean safety personnel and firefighters performed CPR on Chapman until EMS arrived.
Paramedics administered advanced life-saving treatment before transporting him in critical condition to a hospital where he died.
