Kauai lifeguards revived on Saturday an unresponsive 70-year-old swimmer at Poipu Beach Park, and he remains in stable condition.

Lifeguards were notified at 4:45 p.m. Saturday that a man was found unconscious in waters off the western side of the beach park, Kauai Fire Department said in a news release.

Bystanders aided lifeguards in bringing the man to shore, where lifeguards started performing CPR.

The man quickly regained a pulse, and a roving patrol unit moved him from the beach, continued to give rescue breaths until they transferred him to the care of medics.

He was taken to Wilcox Memorial Hospital, and remains in stable condition, the fire department said.
