Bridge work to close Kamehameha Highway in Mililani
The state Department of Transportation plans to close Kamehameha Highway in both directions between Ka Uka Boulevard and Lanikuhana Avenue in Mililani over the weekend for bridge work, beginning Friday night.
The closure is scheduled from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday for the Kipapa Stream (Roosevelt) Bridge Rehabilitation project.
Construction crews will be relocating the utility lines along the southbound or makai lanes of Kamehameha Highway to the northbound or mauka lanes to begin extension work on the makai side of the bridge.
Remaining construction for the project includes bridge extension, concrete overlay, and rail and utility installations on the makai side of the bridge, in addition to the installation of underground conduits and pull-boxes for utilities on the mauka side of the bridge.
Motorists are advised to avoid Kamehameha Highway over the weekend and use the H-2 freeway as an alternate route. Electronic message boards will be posted, and special-duty police officers will be on-site to assist with traffic control. Roadwork is weather permitting.
