The National Weather Service issued a high surf warning for most of the Hawaiian islands tonight.

The warning through 6 a.m. Tuesday covers the north and west facing shores of Niihau and Kauai and the north shores of Oahu, Molokai and Maui where wave heights can reach 20 to 30 feet. The west facing shores of Molokai could get 12 to 20 feet of surf.

Weather officials said the rest of the state can expect breezy tradewinds this week, with rains easing over the Big Island tonight.
