Suspect arrested after teen suffers multiple gunshot wounds in Kalihi

Honolulu Police shut down Kalihi Street at Umalu Place as they investigated a shooting.

Police arrested a 25-year-old man in connection with a shooting in Kalihi that left a man with serious injuries.

The incident was reported at 5:33 p.m. at 3416 Kalihi Street. Witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots in the area.

The victim, identified as either 18 or 19 years old, was treated for what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds and transported to a local trauma center in serious condition, according to an Emergency Medical Services report.

Police located the suspected shooter a half-hour later near the Polynesian Voyaging Society headquarters on Sand Island Parkway and arrested him on suspicion of second-degree attempted murder.

Police briefly closed Kalihi Street from the 3300 block to the 3600 block while conducting their initial investigation.
