A tree fell across multiple lanes of Kalanianaole Highway this morning near Kalani High School, backing up eastbound traffic heading into east Honolulu.
All eastbound lanes of Kalanianaole were re-opened just before 5 p.m. today, the Hawaii Department of Transportation said in a tweet.
HDOT crews have cleared the fallen tree on Kalanianaole Hwy bear Kalani HS. All lanes are open. Mahalo for your patience. Proceed with your weekend. #hitraffic

The closure caused congestion on the H-1 freeway.
