Traffic heading eastbound on the H-1 freeway backs up near the Kahala exit due to fallen tree on Kalanianaole Highway. Lanes are backing up all the way to lower Kaimuki near UH-Manoa.

A tree fell across multiple lanes of Kalanianaole Highway this morning near Kalani High School, backing up eastbound traffic heading into east Honolulu.

All eastbound lanes of Kalanianaole were re-opened just before 5 p.m. today, the Hawaii Department of Transportation said in a tweet.

The closure caused congestion on the H-1 freeway.
