Power was restored to Iroquois Point late Thursday following an outage that lasted some 31 hours.

Hawaiian Electric was finally able to install a mobile substation to temporarily replace the one that was damaged by a rat that caused fuses to blow and the complete loss of power to the Kapilina Beach Homes neighborhood.

Power was restored after 10 p.m. The oceanfront rental community is home to more than 3,000 people and features homes that were originally built in the early 1960s for military housing.
