Work furlough inmate fails to return to Laumaka

The Hawaii Department of Safety is asking for the public’s help in locating a 38-year-old work furlough inmate who failed to return to the Laumaka Work Furlough Center this morning.

Dennis Sonoda was supposed to return by 11 a.m. today. Sonoda is 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs 161 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes.

Sonoda is serving time for assault 2 and unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle. His next parole hearing was scheduled for October.

Anyone with information is urged to call 911 or sheriff dispatch at 586-1352.
