Hawaii island police identify motorcyclist killed in Ocean View crash
A 28-year-old man died in a two-vehicle crash in Ocean View over the weekend.
He has been identified as Devin Miles of Ocean View, according to the Hawaii Police Department.
Police said a 2007 Toyota pickup truck operated by a 62-year-old Holualoa man attempted to make a left turn into a private road from the southbound shoulder of Highway 11 when he was broadsided by a blue 2009 Honda motorcycle operated by Miles at about 11:20 a.m. Sunday, according to a police department news release.
Miles was traveling southbound on the highway at the time of the collision. Police said he was taken in critical condition to Kona Community Hospital where he later died.
An autopsy will be performed to determined the exact cause of death.
This is the 22nd traffic-related fatality on Hawaii island compared with 26 at the same time last year.
