The Rainbow Wahine joined together before the second set of Saturday’s match against the UC Riverside Highlanders.

Junior setter-hitter Norene Iosia put down eight kills to lead a balanced attack and Hawaii defeated UC Riverside for the 24th time in as many meetings, sweeping the Highlanders 25-15, 25-19, 25-17 tonight in a Big West volleyball match at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Freshman middle Kamalei Krug, in her first start, added seven kills for the Rainbow Wahine (8-5, 4-0 Big West). Senior hitter McKenna Granato also had seven kills and added three of Hawaii’s seven aces

It was the fourth straight win for the Wahine, who remain a half-game behind No. 15 Cal Poly (15-1, 5-0) in the conference standings. The Highlanders (5-10, 0-4), in losing their fifth in a row, got seven kills from sophomore middle Yuliya Ushakova.

The match saw Hawaii senior libero Tita Akiu finish with eight digs, the first time she was not in double-digit digs this season.
