Firefighters recover body found by diver in West Maui


    Maui firefighters recovered a body from the shoreline today in West Maui.

Maui firefighters recovered a body today along West Maui’s North Shore.

A Maui Fire Department spokesman said firefighters were sent to Ohai Trail in the Kahakuloa area at about 12:50 p.m. to check on a report of a body found on the shoreline by a diver.

Firefighters aboard a helicopter located the body and took it to a landing zone near Kahekili Highway.

Firefighters didn’t have additional information on the gender or possible age of the body and how it ended up there.

A Maui police spokesman did not immediately return a message for comment.
