Woman dies after driver loses control of his car at Mililani Shopping Center

A woman has died after being struck by a vehicle at the Mililani Shopping Center Tuesday.

Positive identification is pending.

Honolulu police said a 74-year-old man was operating a vehicle at a drive-thru of an automated teller machine at about 11:20 a.m. when, for unknown reasons, he lost control of the car.

The car reversed and struck another vehicle and the woman, who was described as in her early 50s.

Police said the woman was standing next to an open door of the vehicle at the time of the crash.

Emergency Medical Services treated the woman who sustained a head injury and took her in serious condition to the Queen’s Medical Center where she later died.

Police said speed, alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in the crash at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
