No. 2 Hawaii volleyball sweeps No. 12 Cal State Northridge

Hawaii outside hitter Brett Rosenmeier celebrated a point in the second set during tonight’s match.

Junior opposite Rado Parapunov put down 12 kills and senior hitter Stijn van Tilburg added nine as No. 2 Hawaii remained undefeated with its 16th straight sweep, dropping No. 12 Cal State Northridge 25-23, 25-16, 25-17 in tonight’s Big West men’s volleyball match at the Stan Sheriff Center.

The Rainbow Warriors (16-0, 3-0 Big West) extended their NCAA-record sets-won streak to 48. Hawaii, which came into the night leading the country in hitting percentage at .483, hit .609.

The Warriors had more service errors (14) than hitting errors (5). Junior hitter Colton Cowell also had nine kills with no errors on 14 swings.

Van Tilburg moved into sole possession of No. 9 on the program’s career kills list, breaking a tie with Dejan Miladinovic (1,198). The Dutch national, at 1,207, is chasing Siki Zarkovic (1,305).

Senior Dimitar Kalchev led the Matadors (10-9, 0-3) with 12 kills.
