Weak cold front bringing cool temps, scattered showers to isles

Spring may be here, but clouds and showers are expected this afternoon due to a weak cold front that will move over Kauai today, then reach Oahu by this evening, weather officials said.

The front will produce cloudy skies and showers over mainly windward areas, then stall and dissipate over Maui County on Friday.

Overnight temperatures are expected to dip as low as the mid-50s in Lihue and Princeville and get down to the low- to mid-60s for most of Oahu. For Central Oahu, including Mililani, Wahiawa and Pearl City, overnight lows range from 58 to 64 degrees.

Light and variable winds are expected to remain through early next week due to a surface ridge lingering near the isles. A surface trough is forecast to develop east of the Big Island by Friday night, bringing showers there, especially on Sunday.
