2 suspects attempted to burglarize faculty housing at University of Hawaii
Two suspects attempted to burglarize the University of Hawaii’s Kau’iokahaloa Iki faculty housing at 3030 Lowrey Ave. on Friday.
The UH Department of Public Safety warned students, faculty and staff about the recent uptick in burglaries on campus and urges tipsters to report any suspicious activity to the police.
Around 2:27 p.m. Friday, Kau’iokahaloa Iki residents interrupted the two suspects who allegedly made entry into the apartment by removing window jalousies, UH officials said. A verbal threat was made to chase away the suspects.
Residents reported seeing no weapons on the suspects, who fled on a moped.
Both suspects wore dark-colored masks with their eyes exposed. One male suspect is described as 5-foot-4-inches, 160 pounds, wearing a baseball cap and green long-sleeved shirts and long pants.
Since March 20, UH DPS officials reported a string of burglaries from storage sheds, Waahila faculty housing, Hale Wainani tower F mailroom and other areas on campus.
