Las Vegas Advisor: Road-widening project to be completed 2 months early

The Nevada Department of Transportation has announced that Project Neon, the $1 billion, 4-mile widening of Interstate 15 from downtown to Sahara Avenue, will be completed on May 16, two months ahead of schedule. The massive public-works project has snarled freeway traffic for three years, but will greatly improve future commutes with the addition of high-occupancy-vehicle lanes, new on- and off-ramps, and upgraded connections from surface streets downtown.

Kimmel in Vegas: “Jimmy Kimmel Live” is shooting five shows in the Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood, April 1-5. Free tickets for all five tapings are available at 1iota.com.

The free concerts that run on weekends throughout the summer will feature Good Charlotte (May 24), Nelly (June 15), Sugar Ray (June 29), Fuel/Toadies/Sponge (July 20), Pop 2000 Tour hosted by Lance Bass (July 27), Buckcherry (Aug. 17), Cheap Trick (Aug. 24), The Wallflowers (Aug. 30), Smash Mouth (Sept. 28), Muddfest/Puddle of Mudd/Saliva/Trapt/ Saving Abel/Tantric (Sept. 30).

Reduced juice at South Point: South Point is dealing -105 (bet $10.50 to win $10, as opposed to the standard $11/$10 arrangement) on all NCAA basketball tournament games. The reduced pricing will run through the championship game and is for bets on sides (team to win) only. It’s the only sports book in town offering the betting discount that reduces the house edge from 4.5 percent to 2.4 percent.

Question: How many hotel rooms are there in Las Vegas?

Answer: The current official count is 146,993, which should be about right through most of 2019. In 2020 the count will jump drastically, with major openings that include Resorts World Las Vegas and The Drew, both on the north end of the Strip.
