Police search for male kidnapping suspect in Windward Oahu

Police are asking the public to help locate a male kidnapping suspect involved in an incident on Wednesday.

He’s described to be less than 5-foot-8, heavyset, and last seen wearing a dark hoodie and dark pants.

On Wednesday at about 7:40 p.m., a 22-year-old woman reported that she hit an object while driving on Kalanianaole Highway. When she stopped to check her vehicle, an unknown male forced her back into the vehicle and detained her for several hours, police said.

Police said the woman was released in her vehicle in the Windward Oahu area after midnight and was taken to a hospital for her injuries.

Anyone who recalls seeing the victim’s vehicle — a 2017 gray Honda Civic, license plate TCN 175 — in the East Honolulu, Waimanalo, Kaneohe or Kailua areas between 7 p.m. and 2 a.m. on Wednesday is asked to contact CrimeStoppers.

The case has been assigned to the Sex Crimes Detail.

The Honolulu Police Department advises drivers who have car trouble to drive to a well-lit, populated area when possible. If the car cannot be driven, stay in the vehicle, lock the doors, call 911, and wait for a uniformed police officer to arrive.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 955-8300 or *CRIME on your cellular phone. Free cellular calls are provided by AT&T, Nextel Hawaii, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless Hawaii, Mobi PCS, and Hawaiian Telcom. The public may now send anonymous web tips to honolulucrimestoppers.org or via the P3 Tips App.
