Police open attempted murder case after car-to-car shooting, chase in Kaneohe

Honolulu police opened an attempted murder investigation today after an early-morning shooting involving two motorists in Kaneohe.

Police said a 22-year-old man was driving a vehicle near the intersection of Likelike Highway and Anoi Road at about 2:35 a.m. when he allegedly shot several times at another man, 32, who was driving another vehicle.

The 32-year-old, who reported being with his ex-girlfriend, did not sustain a gunshot wound and knows the suspect, police said.

The suspect followed the victim, striking his car with his vehicle and causing the 32-year-old man’s car to overturn near Mokulele Drive and Namoku Street.

Emergency Medical Services personnel arrived at the scene but the victim refused treatment.

Police said the suspect fled and remains at-large.
