Hawaii island police arrest two suspects in connection with stabbing death of woman

Hawaii island police are investigating the stabbing death of a woman Friday afternoon at Whittington Beach Park in Naʻalehu.

Police arrested a man and a woman Friday night in connection with the stabbing.

Kau patrol officers responded to reports of stabbing in the park around 3:40 p.m. Friday. A 35-year-old woman and a 36-year-old man were stabbed multiple times in the park, police said. The woman died at the scene, while the man was transported to Hilo Medical Center in serious condition, police said.

Police identified Kaleianuenue Borero-Kaluna, 19, and Robert Hayes, 69, as the suspects who allegedly stabbed the two victims. Both suspects were arrested at 5:05 p.m. on suspicion of first-degree murder and are being held pending an investigation.
