Suspect in Iwilei sex assault pleads not guilty and is denied supervised release
A 25-year-old man pleaded not guilty to sex assault charges involving a 49-year-old woman in Iwilei.
Isa Lucky appeared at his arraignment before Judge Shirley Kawamura at Circuit Court Monday on charges of kidnapping and two counts of third-degree sex assault.
Honolulu Deputy Public Defender Bryant Zane entered a not guilty plea to the charges.
Zane said Lucky is homeless and unemployed and would be able to stay with his aunt if granted supervised release. Alternatively, he requested bail be reduced to $2,000.
Kawamura denied both requests due to the alleged offenses and multiple criminal contempt of court offenses in the past four months.
She confirmed bail at $75,000 and set his trial for July.

Police said a man later identified as Lucky approached a woman who was at a bus stop in the area of 866 Iwilei Road at about 6 a.m. on Apr. 17.
He allegedly grabbed her arm and pulled her toward a stairwell of a building on Sumner Street and groped her. He then fled in an unknown direction.
Police located him near the intersection of Kuwili Street and Iwilei Road the next day and arrested him.
