Man arrested after allegedly driving into officer’s car in Kalihi

Police arrested a man after he allegedly struck a police vehicle in the Kalihi area early today when an officer pulled him over for a traffic violation.

Police said the officer stopped the car on Dillingham Boulevard shortly before 1:10 a.m. today. After the vehicle pulled over into a parking lot, the car allegedly backed up into the officer’s vehicle, striking it.

Police said the suspect drove forward and reversed again. The officer reversed his vehicle, avoiding a second strike.

The perpetrator sped off and crashed a short distance away.

Police arrested the suspect on suspicion of first-degree criminal property damage.

The officer did not sustain any injuries.
