Utility work to close H-1 lanes in Kapolei

Several lanes of the H-1 freeway will be closed in both directions in the Kapolei area overnight Thursday so Hawaiian Electric Company crews can replace two, 60-foot steel poles and relocate high-voltage power lines.

Starting at 9 p.m. Thursday, three lanes of the H-1 will be narrowed to one in the eastbound and westbound directions between Kualakai Parkway and Makakilo Drive, through 3:30 a.m. on Friday.

The work is part of a project to upgrade the electric infrastructure and improve system reliability in West and Central Oahu.

Traffic and construction signs will be posted, and special duty police officers will help direct traffic in the area.

Drivers are urged to exercise caution when approaching and passing through the work sites.
