Police search for suspect in Punchbowl area shooting

Police investigate the scene of a shooting today at the Punchbowl on-ramp on the H-1 freeway westbound to the Pali Highway.

Police are looking for a 22-year-old man suspected of shooting a 20-year-old man in the area of the Punchbowl on-ramp to the Pali Highway and the the H-1 freeway westbound Wednesday afternoon.

Police said that the 22-year-old fired several shots at the victim and struck him, causing serious bodily injury.

The shooting happened at around 2:50 p.m.

The victim was shot in his middle and lower body, Emergency Medical Services reported. He was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

Police were called, but the suspect had fled the scene before they arrived.

No arrests have been made.

The case is classified as an attempted second-degree murder.

Police closed the Punchbowl on-ramp to the Pali Highway and the H-1 freeway westbound at around 3:30 p.m. as they conducted their investigation, snarling rush-hour traffic. The roads were reopened at around 5:40 p.m.
