A woman managed to escape tonight a “she shed” fire in Waipahu.

Firefighters responded to the first alarm at 6:52 a.m. for a building fire at 94-768 Kaaholo St.

But Capt. Scot Seguirant said it turned out to be more of a shed where people hang out.

The woman, who firefighters described as in her 90s, was found outside the shed when firefighters first arrived at 7 p.m., but it was unclear whether she was inside prior to their arrival.

Emergency Medical Services said the woman was 80 years old, and was transported to a hospital in stable condition.

The woman was the only one home at the time of the fire, the fire department said.

Emergency Medical Services also responded and treated the woman.

Seven fire units with 26 personnel worked to bring the blaze under control at 7:11 p.m. and had it extinguished by 7:24 p.m.

No cause or damage estimate was available at 8 p.m. tonight.
