Police arrested an 18-year-old man after he allegedly struck a Kahala store employee who was trying to stop the suspect from stealing two canned beverages

On Tuesday at about 6:30 p.m, the suspect allegedly grabbed the beverages and tried to flee, Honolulu police said.

A 32-year-old store worker tried to retrieve the drinks and confronted the man. The suspect allegedly hit the man in the forehead with one of the cans and fled on foot.

Police found and arrested him at 7:25 p.m. on suspicion of second-degree robbery, a felony.

He was released pending investigation. Police did not disclose if the employee was treated for any injury.
