Firemen extinguished an apartment fire Thursday at 1630 Liholiho St. in Makiki.
Honolulu firefighters responded to a high-rise apartment fire Thursday afternoon in Makiki.
Firefighters were dispatched about 2:08 p.m. to the Camelot building at 1630 Liholiho St. and found heavy smoke emanating from the mauka side of the building, according to a Honolulu Fire Department spokesman.
The fire was reported to be on the sixth floor of the building.
Upon arrival on the floor, firefighters found heavy flames coming from an apartment. Personnel commenced with firefighting operations to suppress flames and prevent fire spread. The fire was under control at 2:25 p.m. and extinguished at 2:31 p.m.
Twelve fire companies with 46 personnel responded.
Emergency Medical Services said a 58-year-old woman sustained an ankle injury while evacuating the building and was taken to a hospital in stable condition.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
