Honolulu police arrested a 25-year-old man in connection with a shooting in Waikiki Monday.

Police said the suspect was operating a moped when he crashed at about 6:10 p.m. He then fled on foot from responding officers.

When a witness attempted to stop him, the suspect fired one gunshot at the witness, police said. The gunshot did not hit the witness.

Police located the suspect on Kaiolu Street and arrested him on suspicion of second-degree attempted murder.

Emergency Medical Services treated the man for injuries he sustained in the crash and took him to a hospital in serious condition.
