The National Weather Service in Honolulu says a combination of higher-than-predicted ocean water levels and high tides will produce “nuisance coastal flooding” this weekend.

Forecasters said today that the nuisance coastal flooding may occur during high tide times on all islands.

“Impacts may include flooding of beaches that are normally dry and some minor coastal erosion,” they said in a special weather statement. “Tides running around a half a foot above normal will cause salt water inundation of typically vulnerable low-lying roads, docks, boat ramps and other coastal infrastructure.”
