Brush fire closes road on portion of Hawaii island’s Highway 11
A brush fire above Highway 11 on Hawaii island has closed the road in both directions, the Hawaii Police Department announced today.
The Hawaii County Civil Defense Agency said the closure is between the 62 and 63-mile markers in the Kau District, east of Naalehu, and will last several hours.
The agency reported that the road was closed around 2:30 p.m. and asked the public to avoid the area if possible, as there is no detour around the closed area.
