Prosecutors charged a 22-year-old man who allegedly bit off part of a man’s ear during a fight in Kalihi.

Sairos Nickepwi was charged Sunday with second-degree assault and harassment. His bail is set at $12,000.

Police said a suspect and a 21-year-old man were involved in a physical altercation in the 1300 block of Liliha Street at about 5:20 a.m. Saturday.

When officers responded and attempted to separate the two men, police said the suspect later identified Nickepwi bit off part of the victim’s right ear.

Emergency Medical Services also responded to the scene but the victim went to the hospital on his own.
