Man threatened with an ax in Mililani bus stop robbery

Honolulu police are investigating a bus stop robbery where a homeless man allegedly threatened a 42-year-old man with an ax in Mililani Thursday.

The victim was at a bus stop at Kamehameha Highway at or near the Waikalani Drive intersection at about 9:55 p.m. when the suspect approached him.

The suspect, also 42, and the victim are acquaintances.

Police said the suspect punched the victim twice in the face and grabbed his backpack. When the victim attempted to retrieve his bag, the suspect allegedly brandished an ax toward the man.

Police said the suspect then fled in the brush with the victim’s backpack.

There are no arrests at this time.
