Two-alarm fire in Hauula displaces family of 8
A two-alarm fire of a residential dwelling in Hauula this afternoon has displaced a family of eight.
The Honolulu Fire Department responded to a call at 2:14 p.m. for a building fire at 54-266 Kamehameha Highway and found “black smoke and flames emanating from the rear” of the single-story building.
Firefighters were able to get the fire under control by 2:49 p.m., and they extinguished it at 3:22 p.m.
The only occupant at the time was a woman who was able to evacuate without injury. The American Red Cross is assisting the three women, a man and four girls who live at the residence.
HFD is still investigating the cause of the fire and has not provided a damage estimate.
