Bicyclist, 60, in critical condition after collision with car at Ala Moana park
Honolulu police are investigating a collision that left a bicyclist in critical condition at Ala Moana Park Drive late Tuesday night.
Police said at about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, a 26-year-old man turning from Ala Moana Boulevard onto Ala Moana Park Drive to enter the park struck a 60-year-old bicyclist as he was crossing it. The bicyclist was ejected onto the road, and taken to an area hospital in critical condition.
Both men are from Honolulu.
The 26-year-old driver and his 18-year-old passenger visiting from the mainland were not injured.
Police said the bicyclist was traveling eastbound on the Ala Moana Beach Park pathway when he entered the roadway into the path of the driver outside of a marked crosswalk. He was not wearing a helmet, and his bicycle did not have any safety equipment.
Ala Moana Regional Park is closed daily from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m.

At this time, police said speed drugs, and alcohol do not appear to be contributing factors to this collision.
