The woman whose parked vehicle was hit along South King Street this afternoon was working at the nearby Times Supermarket during the accident.

Keahi Haleamau, who was not physically harmed during the two-vehicle accident, was inside Times Supermarket working when she heard the loud “bang” outside the store.

She didn’t know her car had been hit until she went to check what happened during her break at around 3:30 p.m.

“I heard it — everyone heard the big bang,” Haleamau told the Star-Advertiser. “I was still at the register so I didn’t move.”

Her vehicle had been parked in a stall along King Street when it was hit, she said. The back half of her car was ripped off while the other vehicle, which appeared to be a blue Toyota FJ Cruiser, had rolled over.

The Honolulu Fire Department was able to retrieve a few of Haleamau’s belongings from her vehicle. All but one lane on South King Street, meanwhile, had been shut down so the debris from the accident could be cleaned up and both vehicles could be towed away.

Haleamau, who was a bit shaken up after finding out her car had been involved in the accident, spoke with Honolulu police and was driven home shortly afterward by her boss. Some of her coworkers could also be seen comforting her while both vehicles were still on the road.

A man in his 30s, presumably the driver of the other vehicle, was given life support and transported by Emergency Medical Services in serious condition.

The Honolulu Police Department was not available to respond to follow-up questions for this article.
