Uemura’s longboard event to start

The China Uemura Longboard Classic will be held at Queens Beach in Waikiki tomorrow through Sunday.

The event is in its 26th year.

"I love putting on this contest every year," Uemura said. "Between the good vibes in the water and the charity we support, the event is always refreshing.

Divisions include longboarding, stand-up paddle and amateur and specialty heats.

 

Air rifle teams back from mainland

Two Hawaii air rifle teams are back from the National Three Position Air Rifle Junior Olympics in Anniston, Ala.

The Punahou Gygermeisters fired a 4,239 and finished fourth in the Sporter Class Scholastic division.

The Crusader Precision Gold team placed fourth by shooting 4,636 in the Precision Class Club division.

 

Hawaii soccer team wins Schwans Cup

The Blitz Explosive 98 Boys Soccer Team won the 2010 Schwans USA Cup in Blaine, Minn. last week. The U-12 team from Honolulu defeated teams from Mexico, Canada, the Cayman Islands and Minnesota.

Blitz Explosive defeated Woodbridge (Canada) 5-4 in double overtime on Saturday for the championship.

The USA Cup is the largest international youth soccer tournament in the western hemisphere.
