Michelle Wie shoots herself out of contention with 9 on one hole

Honolulu’s Michelle Wie, who entered the day in contention after Thursday’s round of 68, saw her chances of winning vanish on one hole in the second round today at the Evian Masters in France.

Wie, who bogeyed the first hole, carded a 9 on the par-4 10th hole en route to a 5-over 77.

Wie, who has struggled with her game lately, started the day tied for sixth. She is now tied for 47th place, along with former No. 1 player Cristie Kerr.

The leader is Mika Miyazato, who shot a 5-under 67 for a two-round total of 9-under 135.
