DIXIE GRILL ANNIVERSARY: The restaurant marks its 10th year with a Crab Fest all September. New on Ed Wary’s menu this year: the Bucket of Crab. Select from Dungeness ($27), Alaskan snow ($24), Biardi jumbo snow ($29), golden king ($36) or deep-water red ($25), prepared in a spicy Cajun "boil," barbecue, or simply steamed. Each bucket features 1 1/2 pounds of crab, with new potatoes, corn, butter and a house aioli.

The indecisive can try them all via the Trash Can of Crab ($79) with 10- to 12-ounce samples of all five, as well as three stone crab claws. Lunch and dinner specials also include crab salads, rolls and appetizers. Dixie Grill is at 99-012 Kamehameha Highway. Call 485-CRAB or view the menu at www.dixiegrill.com

BREAKFAST AT MAUI TACOS: An enhanced breakfast menu offers new options to the traditional taco. Fillings include fried egg, Spam and egg, and for vegan friends, soy chorizo. Another option is huevos a la Mexicana: grilled onion, tomato, jalapeno and cilantro with scrambled eggs on a plate with rice, beans and corn tortillas. For dessert, there are bunuelos, Spanish fritters with sugar and cinnamon. www.mauitacos.com

It’s hot out, and to beat the heat, many turn to sugar-filled shave ice and sundaes. THE PACIFIC PLACE TEA GARDEN CAFE is combining the two while introducing some healthy options. For a more adult version of the kiddie favorite, artificially flavored and colored treats have been replaced with antioxidant-rich teas, fruit nectars, coffee, fresh fruit and tea/coffee gelatos. The refreshing treats are served in tall, parfait-style glasses at $5.75 each. Flavors are Thai Herbal Tea Shave Ice Sundae, Matcha Green Tea, Hawaiian Pineapple, Kona Coffee Mocha and Thai Coffee. The cafe is on the third level of Ala Moana Center, overlooking Center Stage. Call 944-2004.
