Bad news for the terrorists, gang lords and street scum running amok in town: CBS Television gave "Hawaii Five-0" yesterday a full 22-episode season to fight crime.

The reinvented crime drama had been scheduled to shoot only 13 episodes before taking a break in December. The extension — what the industry calls "the back nine" — means "Five-0" will be filming in the islands into next spring.

"That’s a full season, so you can’t get any better than that," said Honolulu Film Commissioner Walea Constantinau, who was not surprised by the decision. "The show has been doing great, it looks good and it’s been well received."

There was no word from the "Five-0" crew, which was filming yesterday.

The series is worth millions to the state’s economy. Earlier projections by state film officials estimated the show’s indirect impact at $60 million.

The show has done well since its network premiere Sept. 20, winning its time slot four out of five weeks. It opened with 14.2 million viewers but has lost some of its audience. Monday’s episode drew 10.94 million viewers and was the first time the show did not win its time slot — finishing second to ABC’s "Castle."
