Scattered showers, vog predicted all this week

Rain associated with a cold front will continue to fall on Oahu and Kauai over the next few days, forecasters say.

Yet another approaching cold front will shift our usual tradewinds to southerly winds bringing hazy vog for much of the week, the National Weather Service says.

The cold front reached Kauai Sunday afternoon and has stalled near Oahu. The weather service says the front is weakening and breaking up. Rainfall totals on Oahu and Kauai as of 5 a.m. were between a quarter-inch and 2.5 inches, with most places receiving an inch or less. On Oahu, Makaha got about 2.5 inches; 2.1 inches fell at Palehua above Makakilo; and 1.1 inches fell at the Honolulu Airport.

Remnants of the front will bring scattered showers to Oahu, Kauai and Molokai through Wednesday, forecasters say. Isolated showers are also in the forecast for Oahu on Thursday and Friday as the new cold front approaches.

The new front is predicted to bring more rain to the islands over the weekend.
