Bus driver allegedly hurt by rider

A bus driver complained of pain yesterday morning after he allegedly was poked in the chest several times by a passenger who wanted a refund, police said.

The 48-year-old male passenger was arrested for investigation of interfering with the operator of a public transit vehicle following the 10:20 a.m. incident in the Honolulu area, police said. The 26-year-old driver complained of pain to his chest, police said.

Hilo house fire under investigation

Big Island firefighters extinguished a fire in the living room of a Hilo house yesterday.

The cause of the $10,000 fire is under investigation, and officials said the fire was suspicious in nature.

Firefighters were summoned to the Kinoole Street home at about 11:50 a.m. and had the fire under control at noon.

No one was home at the time of the fire.

Threats, stolen mo-ped lead to arrest

Police arrested a 52-year-old man wanted on suspicion of terroristic threatening after spotting him on a stolen mo-ped Saturday afternoon.

According to police, the suspect threatened a 62-year-old man in the Ala Moana area but left before officers arrived.

Officers spotted him in the area and pulled him over. It was then discovered that the mo-ped on which he was riding was stolen, police said. He was arrested for second-degree terroristic threatening and unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle.
