Chef Siu gets cooking at Kauai Beach Resort

Lihue, Kauai » Chef Russell Siu will prepare the first dinner in a series of culinary events celebrating Hawaii’s regional cuisine at Kauai Beach Resort this week.

The Hawaii Culinary Masters Dinner is set for Saturday at the resort. Siu is executive chef and co-owner of Oahu’s popular restaurant 3660 on the Rise.

An interactive and educational cooking demonstration is set for 4 p.m. at Shutters Lounge featuring Siu and his award-winning Lacquered Salmon with Pickled Maui Onions and Yuzu Butter Sauce. Cost is $45 per person plus tax and gratuity.

A four-course dinner with wine pairings will be served at 6:30 p.m. in the Plumeria Room. Cost is $75 plus tax and gratuity per person.

PCC visitors get chance to climb with the coconuts

April visitors to the Polynesian Cultural Center will be offered an extra lesson in native practices: climbing coconut trees.

The "Go Native!" promotion at the center introduces a new activity every month celebrating several traditional Polynesian aspects of daily life, including games, crafts, cooking and ceremonies.
