Aston Aloha pairs comedy, dinner

Kapaa, Kauai » The comedy show "The Complete History of America: (abridged!)" opens a weekly run Tuesday in the Alii Room at the Aston Aloha Beach Hotel.

The show’s cast includes only three quick-change artist-performers who cover 500 years of history.

The show is produced by Oceanside Productions. Cass Foster, co-founder of the theater group, described the show "as 90 minutes of great entertainment with a Kauai track rec­ord of sold-out shows for the past 10 months," according to a statement.

Nellie Foster, another co-founder of Oceanside Productions, said, "Just think of the Three Stooges on ‘Saturday Night Live.’"

Guests also can combine the show with a three-course dinner at the hotel’s Palms Restaurant. The menu features Caesar salad or soup, chicken pasta, fresh catch or Palms’ Top Sirloin, and desserts, including Wai­lua lime pie and passionfruit cheesecake.

Dinner and show ticket prices for preferred seating are $99; regular seating, $79 adult and $69 children; kamaaina tickets are $64 with dinner and $30 without. Dinner seating is at 5 p.m.; show time is 7 p.m. Tickets are available in advance at www.OPTheater.com or by phone, 212-8444.

Hulihee Palace open for business

Kailua-Kona » It’s almost business as usual at Hulihee Palace a month after the tsunami generated by the Japanese earthquake hit the Big Island and damaged the palace.

The palace has reopened for tours 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.

Repairs of tsunami damage continue to be made to the basement, grounds and exterior buildings. The gift shop remains closed.

The palace’s free monthly outdoor concerts also continue. Concerts are scheduled at 4 p.m. next Sunday, May 15, June 12, July 17, Aug. 14, Sept. 18, Oct. 16, Nov. 20 and Dec. 18.
