UH sailing just misses team nationals

The University of Hawaii coed sailing team’s season came to an end over the weekend with a third-place finish at the PCCSC Team Race Championship at Redwood City, Calif.

UH (9-6 overall) finished one win behind the school it needed to pass, UC Irvine, which placed second at the event won by host Stanford.

The UH women’s team can still earn a spot in nationals with a top-three finish at this week’s PCCSC Women’s Championship.

UH-Hilo, HPU split doubleheader

For the second straight day, Hawaii-Hilo and Hawaii Pacific split a baseball doubleheader at Wong Stadium. This time, however, it was designated a nonconference twin bill and did not count in the PacWest standings.

HPU (18-19 overall) took the first game 3-2, while UHH (15-21) claimed the second 5-4 after facing a 3-0 deficit.

Vulcans seniors go out in style

UHH (25-11, 18-4 PacWest) also beat the Silverswords (14-30, 8-14) earlier in the day, 5-2, for a doubleheader sweep.
