Broken water main that flooded part of Las Vegas Strip fixed

LAS VEGAS >> Authorities say a broken water main that flooded part of the Las Vegas Strip is fixed.

Las Vegas Valley Water District spokesman Damon Hodge said Wednesday afternoon that customers who didn’t already have water would within a half hour.

Hodge says a contractor working on another agency’s project to relocate fire hydrants struck the pipeline Wednesday morning.

Two northbound lanes between Tropicana and Harmon avenues were closed as a result. By mid-afternoon the street flooding had begun to dissipate.

Nearby resorts including MGM Grand, New York New York and Monte Carlo were able to obtain water from another line.
