The man is described as 6 feet 2 inches tall, weighing 230 pounds, wearing a light green long-sleeved shirt, khaki shorts, a black baseball cap and black slippers.
Police are asking for help today in finding a man in his 40s who threatened to blow up a bomb at a bank in Kapolei on Monday during an attempted robbery.
Police said the man, wearing a blue surgical mask, entered the Kapolei branch of American Savings Bank at 2:44 p.m., approached the teller and demanded money.
He then allegedly threatened to detonate a bomb when the branch manager declined to give him any money, a CrimeStoppers bulletin said.
He is wanted for first-degree robbery.
The man fled on foot in an unknown direction.

You are ridiculous. Kapolei is a wonderful family community. You can’t afford to take the bus that far, so how would you know? LOL! Where you work is scary. Not a safe place for families.

Mentioned in comment on FHB robbery…everyday it’s getting worst and worst. We need to stay vigilant. I understand that at the present time there’s not much we can do except call 911. I understand those who respond that this may not be enough is someone wants to initiate a killing spree (blute instrument, knife, gun, IED, etc.) It would not be far fetched that a coordinated “wilding event” takes place in attacking (fill in the blank)…i.e. financial institutions, schools, tourist attractions…soft targets). Our community landscape changing and perhaps we will need to take precautionary measure to protect ourselves.
Agree must be vigilant for home-grown terrorist of whatever color or ethnicity. Bank should have given cash to the bandit. Better to be safe than sorry, especially when lives are involved be it employees or customers. I this case being passive would have been prudent. The robber could have set a real bomb to go off as he left then what? Bank may be liable?
First want to apologize for my typos (“blunt” not “blute”, “if” not “is”). I don’t know what ASB’s policy is but you bring up an interesting point about surrendering cash vs. detonation of IED. Second, wife and I discussed security at various institutions and we came to a conclusion that financial institutions will soon have armed security guards who will have customers check in backpacks and large bags in addition we may end up walking thru screening stations. This would be similar to what we go thru to enter the Federal Building.
