All Kailua-bound lanes of Pali Highway closed due to downed tree

Part of Pali Highway in the Kaneohe-bound direction was closed Sunday afternoon because of a large fallen tree.

Police said the tree was blocking two lanes on the Honolulu side of the tunnel at about 12:45 p.m., and crews were working to remove it.

This not the first time and won’t be the last that lanes on Pali and Likelike Hwy. closed because of downed trees. Usually if strong winds, but, don’t know if that’s the case today. If the DOT would ensure that trees are far enough back or trimmed, this won’t happen, no problem. Same problem with landslides. Lucky didn’t happen on a weekday when more cars on the roads.

Agreed. Now let’s all wait with baited breath for the state government (governor) to come back with a “we need more money via increased fuel, car registration, and weight taxes” in order to perform proper operational and preventive maintenance. How many months till the opening of the next legislative session?

Terrible reporting. Pali was opened hours ago.
